About Jacob- Owner & Operator
My journey has been an interesting one. At three years old, I already had an affinity for technology and broadcasting, pointing out and getting excited whenever I would pass a tower. I knew that my journey would take me somewhere on the creative path. Through the years, I have worked in radio broadcasting, while at the same time DJing at weddings on the weekends.
While attending college for Radio-TV-Film, I have learned many different avenues in addition to the world of radio. I had learned how to produce a music video show, how to shoot at events and city council meetings, and also eventually wedding videography through my friend's business that I DJed at. I learned that videography is a great way to capture a part of time, and a great way to get the word across to people and create a memory through not only certain visual medium, but also through the voices in the video.
I have always had a dream to own my own business. To provide exceptional customer service. To be able to bring smiles to people's faces by something I had done for them. It never has been about the money, only to ultimately bring happiness to others any way that I could. Through Just Your Way Media, I am able to do this for individuals throughout their lifetime. Be it capturing their new born, filming a graduation, capturing their engagement or marriage, helping their business make money through visual means, or filming that 50th wedding anniversary. What other industry can cover basically birth throughout their lifetime? And to be a part of seeing people grow through the years? It is such a blessing!
I would love to be able to learn about your family, how I can help through video and photography, and capturing all of your lifetime memories! Let me know how I can serve you!
About Josie - Visual Media Specialist
My love for all things related to cameras started at a very young age; I can remember following my parents and siblings around with my first camera – a plastic Tweety Bird themed 35mm camera! Shortly after receiving my Tweety Bird camera, I also received one of my first video games – Pokemon Snap for the N64 (a game where you travel to different regions to photography different Pokemon). It may seem silly, but these two “toys” essentially jump started my passion for all things photography and videography!
Once I began high school, I was fortunate enough to attend a school that offered photography classes as art electives in addition to the typical drawing, painting, and pottery classes that most high schools offer! I took all four levels of photography classes that my school offered; here, I learned the basics of how to compose a shot as well as how to develop my own film in a dark room and enlarge prints. This motivated me to go to college to study photography!
In my first year of college, I studied studio art with an emphasis in photography at Lawrence University in Appleton, WI. Although my passion for photography was as strong as ever, I decided to change my major to film production after my first year because a person does not necessarily need a degree in photography to be a professional photographer. Also, film production is incredibly similar to photography as it incorporates many of the same fundamental skills such as composing a shot, learning the basics of lighting, post production editing, etc. I wanted to be an all-encompassing visual storyteller; in my mind, the best way to accomplish that goal was to start learning film production in addition to photography. After making the decision to change majors, I transferred to the Peck School of the Arts at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. While there, I decided to double major in film studies as well! All throughout my time in school I worked as a freelance photographer/videographer for individual clients as well as companies such as Mad Max Convenience Stores and Shutter Stock Custom (formerly Flashstock). In 2017 I graduated with a BFA in film, video, animation, and new genres as well as film studies!
Today, I live in downtown Milwaukee with my boyfriend, dog, and two cats; I have extensive knowledge of a wide variety of photography/videography styles such as portraits, weddings, events, products, documentaries, stock, wildlife, lifestyle, travel, etc! My hobbies include going for walks along the riverwalk downtown with my dog, playing video games, drawing/making short animations, hiking, and traveling!
About Reno - Disc Jockey/MC
Without a doubt music is my passion and my lifestyle. I’ve been DJing weddings for about 5 years now, seeing nearly 200 receptions; it’s truly a been pleasure serving the newly weds and running the dance floor on their most blessed night. It's beautiful to watch families and friends come together and loosen up under the disco ball light. I think I’m a great DJ because I am versatile across many eras and genres of music, and also I love to dance! From oldies to hip hop, from pop to alternative, I’ll play and mix whatever you and your guests need to have a great time.
Something more personal about me, I first started experimenting with music in high school, my friends and I formed a band; I played the guitar. We played lots of late 90s and early 2000s alternate rock songs. We weren’t very good, but it was fun and that passion grew into new and different passions, like singing and of course DJing! Inspired, after high school I went to college in Milwaukee to study Music & Film. While still in school I was lucky enough to start DJing weddings as a part-time job on the weekends. I worked hard to balance my life, and between school & weddings I even wrote and performed music of my own around Milwaukee.
I’m very thankful for my 2 loving and supportive parents for exposing me to various instruments and different kinds of music as a kid. My mom likes rock and roll, she grew up with bands like the Rollings Stones, the Beatles, the Beach Boys, and my dad he listened to a bit heavier stuff, ACDC, Nirvana, and Audioslave. When listening to music together they’d have to meet somewhere in the middle, maybe Johnny Cash, maybe Journey. Me, I grew up listening to bands like The Killers or Sublime and later in high school started exploring hip hop. Overall my tastes in music are eclectic.
About Erin - Assistant Photographer/Videographer
My passion for the arts has shaped my entire life. I was born and raised in Southwest Wisconsin, in a part of the state known as the Driftless Area. I grew up on a farm with my parents and my older sister. When I was little, I would sneak out into the living room in the middle of the night to watch Disney VHS tapes. This was a beautiful place to grow up and I now have it tattooed on my arm.
Growing up, I took a variety of art classes, such as pottery, drawing, and painting. When I was in third grade, I discovered my passion for music and I learned how to play the piano. In middle school, I joined band and began to play the trumpet. When I was in high school, I was lucky enough to be able to take college level writing courses. While I love all forms of art, I am the most passionate about film and video.
This love for video inspired me to move to Milwaukee. I began attending the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee in 2011. During my time at UWM, I took courses in several different areas of the arts. Some of my favorites included acting, puppetry, and Iyengar Yoga. In 2015, I graduated with my BFA in Film, Video and New Genres.
After graduation, I did a year of service with AmeriCorps, in a program known as City Year Milwaukee. After City Year, I moved to South Korea, where I spent a year teaching English to children ranging in age from kindergarten to fourth grade. My year in South Korea was a lot of fun and I hope to visit again soon. However, I decided to move back to Milwaukee to attend graduate school. I am currently attending Marquette University, where I am pursuing a Masters in Communication. I love being back in Milwaukee and I look forward to my future here!
About Madeline - Marketing Specialist
You know how at camp as a kid you often get a little nickname for the duration of the camp? Well, mine was always chatterbox. I’ve always loved conversing and engaging with anyone (and any animal, really) and that has never wavered throughout my personal and professional life. I just have a lot to say, ok!?
I graduated from Marquette University in 2017 where I studied public relations and advertising, while taking multiple media studies, media writing, public speaking, non-verbal communication and even theater classes! Thanks to Marquette and everyone I came across there, I really came to embrace and enhance my love for all forms of communications, and I can’t wait to see where it takes me in life.
Born and raised in Wisconsin, I could really talk your ear off about Wisconsin sports, Up Nort’, how awesome Milwaukee is, and everything else in between. So, if you are ever looking for a lengthy discussion about Giannis Antetokounmpo or things to do around MKE, I’m your girl.
During my time off, you can find me playing with my nieces and nephew, hanging out with my friends and family, googling conspiracy theories, checking and updating my social media, or of course, watching Netflix.
